Workshop on World Psychiatry Day
Department of Psychiatry of Sri Lalithambigai Medical College and Hospital organized one day workshop on the topic of ‘Interpersonal Communication Skills’ for Nurses and Paramedical Staff. The workshop was held on 11.10.2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm on the third floor of the Lecture Theatre SLMCH. There were seventy Nurses and Paramedical staff attended the workshop. Dr.Divya Balachandran Psychiatry Senior Resident, welcomed all the dignitaries present in the dais and the participants from SLMCH. Our Respected Vice-Chancellor Dr.S. Geethalakshmi delivered an introductory address. Our Respected Dean Dr.T.Balasubramanian and Principal Dr.SithyAthiyaMunavarah, shared few words regarding Interpersonal Communication Skills. Psychiatry Dr.Rakesh Chander who trained and experienced at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences.
He was the chief speaker of this workshop. Our Vice-Chancellor honored Dr.RakeshChander. He motivated everyone to actively participate in the workshop. He started his speech with the interaction session with staff. He arranged a role play to demonstrate the Interpersonal Communication Skill (IPCS). He made everyone to realize the importance of IPCS. Through his many key points he has given an idea of when to use verbal and non-verbal communication. At the end of the workshop Dr. Divya Balachandran thanked all the invited guest and participants for gracing this occasion by their solemn presence.
